What We’re Looking For
Rivaz Brazil is seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Safety Technician to join our Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) team supporting operations in Picuí, Paraíba, Brazil. This position will serve as a key technical resource for occupational health and safety across our drilling operations, helping ensure effective risk controls, regulatory compliance, safe execution of critical activities, and the continued development of a strong prevention-focused safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and monitor HSE activities across drilling, maintenance, logistics, and operational support areas.
Conduct field inspections and audits to assess regulatory compliance and the effectiveness of operational controls.
Review and validate risk assessments (APRs), work permits, procedures, and controls for critical and non-routine activities.
Monitor LOTO, lifting and load handling, fueling, maintenance, work at height, and equipment interventions.
Support GRO/PGR, legal programs, contractor onboarding, emergency preparedness, training, and audits.
Lead or support investigations of accidents, incidents, and high-potential events using root-cause analysis.
Monitor HSE indicators, trends, corrective actions, and recurring risks to drive continuous improvement.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to operational teams and less experienced HSE professionals.
Exercise technical authority to stop activities involving serious or imminent risk until appropriate controls are restored.
Qualifications
Completed technical qualification as an Occupational Safety Technician.
Professional registration as required by applicable legislation.
Strong knowledge of GRO/PGR, hazard identification and risk assessment, applicable NRs and legislation, LOTO, incident investigation, audits, inspections, and emergency response.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, reporting, and HSE management systems.
Demonstrated experience in mining, drilling, maintenance, heavy construction, or field industrial operations.
Experience supporting drilling operations and other critical field activities is highly desirable
